Chapter Philanthropy

As Sigma Kappas, we hold philanthropy very near and dear to our hearts. Our members strive to stay in touch with our community by averaging six hours of service, per member, each semester. Therefore, as a chapter, we log 1,500+ service hours per semester.

Sigma Kappa has supports 5 philanthropies: The Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inherit the Earth, Gerontology. Maine Seacoast Mission, and Alzheimer's. Fun fact: They spell out "Sigma!"

As, Alpha Delta's we recognize the importance of serving our community, providing community awareness and education about our National Philanthropies, and raising money to benefit our cause. As a chapter we take part in and host many different service projects on campus and in our community in the hopes of making an impact and providing knowledge to those we come in contact with.

Sigma Sketti

Our biggest campus event is the Spaghetti dinner, which is held in the Spring every year. It is certainly a favorite amongst our sisters and the individuals who come out and support, because it is a night where you can enjoy endless pasta, breadsticks, and dessert and simply hangout with your friends. In 2018, we raised over $5,000, and that goes directly to the Alzheimer’s Tennessee Association, because all of the food is donated by our amazing chefs and chapter members!

After not being able to host our annual Spaghetti dinner, in 3 years. Spring of 2022 we were able to gather on April 19th for a night of endless pasta, breadsticks, and dessert once again and we raised over $7,000!

Alzheimer's Walk

Sigma Kappa's main philanthropy, Gerontology with an emphasis on Alzheimer's Disease Research, is very important to our chapter, as this disease has impacted many of our members and their families. Every spring and fall we participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, and this fall it was hosted at the Knoxville Zoo. Chapter members had a chance to walk with other members of the community and raise money through a push day which was extremely successful because we contributed over $11,000 to the total $122,000 raised!
